How Much Should a Logo Cost? (And Why It Varies So Much)

Everyone wants a logo… until they hear the price. “Is AI going to replace designers?”

One of the most common questions I get is:

“How much should a logo cost?”

And the frustrating answer is:

It depends.

You’ll see logos priced at:

  • $50 on Fiverr

  • $800 from a freelancer

  • $2,000–$10,000+ from a professional designer or agency

So what’s the difference? And more importantly, what should you be paying?

Let’s break it down.

1. You’re not just paying for a file

A logo isn’t just a graphic. It’s the foundation of your brand.

When you hire a designer, you’re paying for:

  • thinking and strategy

  • concept development

  • revisions and refinement

  • usability across real-world applications

  • experience (what works and what doesn’t)

That’s why two logos that “look similar” can have completely different price tags.

2. Cheap logos are usually cheap for a reason

Lower-cost options can work in certain situations, especially if:

  • you’re just starting out

  • you need something temporary

  • branding isn’t a priority yet

But often, cheaper logos:

  • rely on templates

  • aren’t unique

  • don’t scale well

  • don’t come with a full system

You might save money upfront, but end up rebranding later.

3. Mid-range is where most businesses should be

For many small to mid-sized businesses, this is the sweet spot.

Typically, you’re getting:

  • custom concepts

  • a collaborative process

  • a logo that actually fits your brand

  • multiple versions and file types

This is where design starts to become intentional, not just decorative.

4. Higher-end branding is about the full system

When you move into higher budgets, you’re not just paying for a logo.

You’re getting:

  • a full brand identity

  • typography and color systems

  • guidelines for consistency

  • strategy behind every decision

This is what helps brands feel polished, cohesive, and professional everywhere.

5. The real question isn’t “what’s the cheapest?”

It’s: “What do I need this logo to do?”

If your logo needs to:

  • build trust

  • represent your business professionally

  • work across digital and print

  • last for years

…it’s worth investing in doing it right.

6. A logo is something you use every day

Your logo shows up everywhere:

  • your website

  • your social media

  • your marketing materials

  • your products

  • your emails

It’s one of the few design assets you’ll use constantly.

Its the FIRST and LAST thing your clientele will think of when they think of your company do it needs to hold up.

Final thought

There’s no single “correct” price for a logo. But there is a difference between something that just looks okay and something that actually works.

A good logo doesn’t just save you time. It builds credibility.

If you’re thinking about a new logo or rebrand, I’d love to help you build something that actually works.

Shoot me a message. I do brand identity design for businesses that want to look more credible, consistent, and memorable.
